Enugu-The University of Nigeria Nsukka
Administration has, on Thursday, denied making official pronouncement or
announcement on cut-off marks for the 2017/2018 admission.
In an announcement, signed by the
institution’s Acting Public Relations Officer, Chief (Dr.) Okwun Omeaku and
sent to institution’s regulated e-mail accounts of staff and students of the
institution, and also published on the University's website, advises the general
public to beware of dubious and
fraudulent individuals currently parading advertorials on social media with
regards to admission and cut-off marks for the University of Nigeria.
The institution, while
dissociating itself from the publications, reminded the general public that
all official guidelines and pronouncements can only be accessed on the
University Website or portal, www.unn.edu.ng. Part of the statement reads:
“The attention of the Management of the
University of Nigeria, has been drawn to Social Media Advertorials making the rounds about University of
Nigeria cut-off Marks for admission. The University of Nigeria hereby
dissociates itself from the social media publications or indeed any other
publications related to admissions and cut-off marks for the University, as
there has been no official pronouncement or publication on admission or cut-off
marks for the University”
Recall
that The Federal Government had, last year, June 2, through the Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu scrapped post-Unified
Tertiary Matriculation Examination during the 2016 Combined Policy meeting on
admissions to Universities, Polytechnics and other higher institutions in
Nigeria and adopted Point System Option, ordering tertiary institutions to
whilst mapping out cut-off marks, grant admissions based on candidates’ SSCE
grades and UTME scores.
